Welcome to my blog! I’ve been witnessing what seems to be a breakdown of the social web, and in that process realizing that the web I grew up on that was largely personal websites and blogs has not necessarily withered away, I’ve just not been participating in it. I decided there were a couple of great ways to revive it:
- Visit more small scale blogs and sites instead of larger sites.
- Produce my own small scale blog!
An inspiration for doing this was the excellent ff8isthe.best which is just a goofy blog dedicated to Final Fantasy 8 and stories about it. It’s clear it’s made just for fun, and is therefore fun to read! I’ve also found myself perusing blogs at ooh.directory and it’s just a lot of fun.
Some goals I have for this site are to just write things that might be more extensive than is worth of a post on my Mastodon or Blue Sky accounts. Things I might write about are retro video games, my observations of the games industry today, or just personal stories or musings. I also want this site to be as minimal on web-crud as possible. I don’t plan to “monetize” it by inserting ads or enabling any sort of tracking, and I don’t really want to focus on having a nice design or anything; I just want to keep it simple, clean, and loading fast.
